Announcement Time: We've got a lot to say.

As subscribers to The Ripple, you're the first to know about what's under the hood at The Conservationist Collective. We've been waiting to tell you these for so long!

OPS x TCC Plastic Free July Collab!

We've teamed up with our friends and lifelong heroes at Oceanic Preservation Society to run a media campaign on plastic pollution and solutions. The video series will be going live on their social media channels as well as ours, so make sure you're following along. OPS is a team of filmmakers and activists who have been working to protect our blue planet for decades. They are the production company behind some of the most compelling documentaries in conservation - The Cove, Racing Extinction, and Gamechangers. All of these films are must-sees.

TCC is about to be on Waterbear!

If you haven't heard of them, Waterbear is the Netflix of environmental documentaries. They are a completely free platform and host hundreds of films from 2 minutes to 2 hours aimed to get you inspired and educated about the issues facing our planet. Our short film, 10 Year Countdown, will join their incredible library of material this July. We could not be prouder about this partnership!

Looking to begin your journey to a low waste lifestyle? We have the only resource you need to build a plastic-free home. Our e-book, Living your values: a beginner's guide to a zero waste home is a perfect starting point for those looking to live a little more sustainable for our oceans.

The Conservationist Collective team is growing! Thanks to support from Better Booch, a sustainable kombucha brand based out of Southern California, we just hired an Impact Intern for the summer to create video content for our social channels. Everyone meet Maria Lujan, a freediver and ocean activist! To watch the awesome content she creates, make sure to follow our Tiktok.

Stay Inspired with some Good Blue News!

The United Kingdom made a strong measure to protect our seas, by prohibiting bottom trawling in four protected regions. Bottom trawling is known as one of the most destructive fishing methods, as it dragged a net across the seafloor and threatens benthic habitat. A recent study found the disruption of sediment associated with bottom trawling also released an incredible amount of emissions, contributing to the climate crisis.

Kahulu'u Bay on Hawai'i Island's west coast was recognized as a Mission Blue Hope Spot for the biocultural significance of the area.

The U.S. announced that it is going to ban the sale of single-use plastics in National Parks, which is an amazing victory for our protected lands. The only issue is this transition is expected to take place over 10 years. With plastic pollution connected to human and ocean health consequences, this step in the right direction could use more urgency.

The U.S. made a thread of announcements for World Ocean Day, that you should definitely check out. We are pretty excited that our country is finally taking steps toward and Ocean Climate Action Plan, especially considering the ocean is our largest carbon sink and our biggest asset to fighting the climate crisis.
